Behold! The Valley of Dreams..
Katathong…a new golf course for Khao Lak
Just a 40km drive from central Khao Lak, the newly-opened Katathong Golf Resort & Spa is the area’s first privately-owned, 18 hole championship course – and it’s a real beauty…
“Katathong combines the beauty and power of nature with the history and traditions of a bygone age”
Katathong Golf Resort & Spa, Phang Nga
Opened on February 09, 2015 this brand new championship golf course lies in a stunning natural valley in the heart of Phang Nga Province, just 40 kilometres from Khao Lak and easily accessible from Phuket International Airport.
The new Katathong Golf Resort and Spa not only raises the standard of golf available to keen golfers visiting Khao Lak but also adds more variety to the courses already on offer in the local area.
Nicknamed the ‘Valley of Dreams’, which comes from the location of the course, Katathong Golf Course is surrounded by age old limestone mountains and built around the historical lakes and meandering streams of an old, disused tin mine.
The golf course descends down into a wide open valley from the clubhouse. A dramatic panorama of lush green fairways, lined with tropical palm trees and dotted with white sandy hazards and numerous water challenges. The view from the old colonial styled, luxurious Sino-Portuguese club house certainly demands attention.
Numerous water hazards and narrow, challenging fairways require precise, strategic play if you are to prevail at Katathong. Many of the holes also feature dramatic changes in elevation adding even further satisfaction – or woes! – to your round.
Katathong Golf Resort and Spa’s signature hole is Hole 10, a short 213 yard Par 3 hole. Teeing off in front of spectators in the clubhouse, you have to drive the ball over a large lake from an elevated tee down onto a wide but fast green. There is little margin for error – especially since everyone in the clubhouse can see your efforts!

A 50-room luxury hotel will also open on the site later in 2015.
The course boasts a luxurious Sino- Portuguese style clubhouse, plus a pro shop and ladies and gents locker rooms with full amenities and a 12-bay driving range and short game practice area.
Three kiosks provide refreshments along the course and there is also a relaxing lobby bar.
